Engineer Software Quality

Job Description:

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer role will:
• Develop, modify, apply, and maintain standards for software quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures.
o Ensure that project and process control documentation are compliant with standards, objectives, and/or contract requirements via inspection, reviews, and audits.
• Develop overall operating measures and criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to standards, objectives, and/or contract requirements.
o Ensure measures meet acceptable performance standards/targets/goals.
• Contribute to software development and maintenance processes and methods utilized by Software Engineering, ensuring compliance with requirements, objectives and/or contract requirements.
• Review software engineering work products (e.g., design, change specifications, and plans) against contractual and/or process requirements.
• Perform or direct verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, another STEM degree or equivalent and at least 5 years of software experience or 3 years with a Master’s degree or 0 years with a PhD in one of the above disciplines.
• Understanding of software engineering principles, practices, and theories.
• Experience in operating in a Quality Management System (QMS).
• Strong analytical skill with an understanding of basic problem solving.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Dedicated to teamwork and able to work well in a team environment.
• Works well under pressure and adapt well to unplanned tasks.
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• US Citizenship required.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience coding in Ada, C, C++, and/or Python.
• Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software problem tracking tools such as DOORs, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and BitBucket.
• Experience with ISO and AS9100 standards requirements.
• Knowledge and/or experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action tools.
• Ability and willingness to continuously learn and implement new processes.
• Knowledge of waterfall and/or Agile life-cycles.

The job is 100% onsite. Physical SW media and Off-network systems will need to be accessed for work product reviews in this role.
